DT Curriculum Intent

At Newberries we aim to develop technical knowledge, skills and vocabulary through structured and memorable experiences. Children develop knowledge and skills through designing, practising, evaluating and improving. Children have the opportunity to raise questions and develop initiative. They will develop skills to work safely with tools, equipment and materials and develop an understanding of health, hygiene and the safety aspects involved in food. Children work independently and collaboratively to think through problems creatively, developing organisational skills in order to improve their capability to create products. They are encouraged to be resilient and develop a sense of enjoyment and pride in their ability to make and to develop an interest in changing technologies.
