  • Remembrance

    Fri 11 Nov 2022

Today, KS2 children participated in a virtual assembly from the Royal British Legion and all children took part in a two minute silence of Remembrance. Remembrance Day is featured in our school blog pages today and showcases the creative tasks that pupils have completed to reflect upon, and remember, the lives that were lost.

  • World Science Day

    Wed 09 Nov 2022

On Thursday we marked World Science Day, where children celebrated their fantastic science skills. During the whole class assembly, pupils discussed what they thought science was, with our Year 6 pupils introducing us to some new vocabulary and Reception pupils sharing their class science experiments.

As part of their day, each class then participated in a STEM activity which involved using their science skills and working effectively in a group to create an end product,  for example Year 3 produced some amazing skyscrapers, Year 6 worked hard to create the longest chain using only one piece of paper and Year 4 created fantastic paper towers.

    Well done everybody!

  • Black History Month

    Fri 14 Oct 2022

As part of our ongoing work to celebrate diversity, this year we continue to learn about significant individuals in class. Last year, we focussed on individuals who were nominated by parents, carers and children from families within our school community.

This month, rather than focussing on one person, we are focussing on numerous individuals in recognition of Black History Month. This week children have investigated the musical careers of Winifred Atwell (1914 – 1983), Dame Shirley Bassey (1937 – present) and Labi Siffre (1945 – present).

Next week and up until half term, pupils will continue to research people who have made a difference.

  • Our School Dog!

    Fri 23 Sep 2022

Dotty, our school dog, successfully passed her first assessment and publicly received her certificate and rosette during our celebration assembly last week. All children and staff were very impressed by Dotty, who was more than eager to show off her new skills. Well done!

  • Radlett Memorial

    Fri 16 Sep 2022

Today our Year 6 pupils walked to the Radlett Memorial to lay flowers as a sign of respect for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Our pupils laid seven bouquets on behalf of each class accompanied by a message or picture from every child in the school. Our Year 6 pupils were brilliant ambassadors for Newberries and carried out this very special duty with sensitivity and maturity. Thank you Year 6, we are very proud of you!
